Boomer Babes and Real Cougars

The original hippie girls grow up!

Will You Be My Valentine, Cookie?

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 egg

2 T milk

1/2 tsp vanilla

2 cups flour

1/2 tsp salt

2 T baking powder

Bake at 350 degrees F, just until dough is cooked through, about 5-8 minutes.

For Iced Cookies:

1/3 cup butter

4 cups confectioner sugar, sifted

1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

2 T heavy cream or milk

Food Coloring

(Add to small portions of icing, making different colors. Pour each color icing into a small ziplock bag and snip a tiny piece from a corner, so you can squeeze to decorate cookies).

Present your gift in a memento box you've created yourself with paper and Elmer's Multi-Purpose Glue-All about the size of a cigar box. Cut-out letters and pictures that catch your eye from old magazines and decoupage your box inside and out to say whatever you wish.

Mix the glue with a little hot water to thin and spread it on the back of the letters and pictures with a small sponge paintbrush. Express your individuality. Be romantic, outrageously funny or as racy as you wish, whatever suits your situation. Tie with a beautiful red satin or organza ribbon.

Spray the box inside and out with Krylon Clear Coat, glossy or satin, or any polyurethane clear spray (you can buy it at any Walmart or craft store) and when it's completely dry, line it with tissue paper before adding your cookies or fudge.

Best Ever Fudge

2/3 cup Carnation evaporated milk (small can)

1 2/3 cup sugar

1 medium jar marshmellow creme (it's like whipped marshmellows)

1 Tablespoon vanilla

1/2 cup chopped nuts

1 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels (like the ones you use in chocolate chip cookies)

Combine evaporated milk with sugar in saucepan and heat to boiling. Cook for 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Stir until marshmellow and morsels have

melted and then pour into a buttered pan (about 1- 1 1/2 " thick).

Wait until completely cooled to cut into squares. Get more creative. Use some of the colored

icing to decorate fudge squares.

No Fail Instructions

Be sure to set a timer (or use your cellphone stopwatch) for a full 5-7 minutes starting when the milk and sugar begins to boil.  Do not scrape the sides of the pan while stirring. Don't stop stirring until the buzzer rings. At that point, take the pan off of the heat and add the rest of the ingredients. Continue stirring until everything is blended and melted together.Chocolate should lose its glossy sheen. Pour into greased pan (1-1/2 inches high). Cool thoroughly before cutting into uniform squares with a sharp knife intermittantly dipped in very hot water.
